Love on a New Shore – Prison Poetry
July 29, 2011 ¤ Listed in : William J. Crary - Poetry
I leave this harbor…
my heart as my vessel
remembering her light that once shone upon my face.
My heart aches as I slip away from this harbor
and the memory of her light slowly fades away.
I know my new journey will be long and difficult,
for her light will no longer be my guide.
I will be left alone in these dark and murky waters
with my fear of the rocks and shallow waters ahead.
As I sail along this seemingly endless journey
I will pray
that maybe some day
my vessel will be led to a new shore
and to a new light
that will guide my way to a new life
and to a new adventure…
… in a beautiful new world.
